CONNEK activities are mainly organized by a board. This board includes
operation and strategy teams. The strategy team and senior members build the
CONNEK’s vision and develop strategies and plans. The operation team organizes
activities and leads projects to implement these strategies and plans.
In the operation team, members are annually nominated by members from the
strategy team in December. The strategy team selects members who have
contributions and strong commitment to CONNEK group, attendant frequency,
leadership and available resources. The operation members organize concrete
activities and daily operations to implement strategies and plans of the
strategy team.
In the strategy team, members develop strategies and annual plans to realize
the CONNEK’s vision. Members in the strategy team are from the operation team of
the previous year. Members in the strategy team also can be annually selected by
contributions and commitment to group, attendant frequency and demonstrated
leadership. After one year in the strategy team, members play as advisors in
CONNEK group.
In 2005, the CONNEK strategy team includes Pham Tuan Ngoc (K43), Le Thu Hoa
(K45), Nguyen Thanh Binh (K44) and Pham Cong Tuan (K44). The CONNEK operation
team includes Doan Van Tuyen (K46), Le Van Vuong (K46), Tran Quang Khai (K46)
and Nguyen Duc Tho (K44). These members make up the CONNEK strategy team in

During a Saturday morning coffee on October 1999, a group of three Class of
96 (K36), Nguyen Hoanh Tien, Truong Quoc Cuong and Do Duy Duc, came up with the
idea of having technology information sharing sessions. Thereafter, regular
presentations and discussions were held weekly with the presence of two new
Class of 96 engineers, Le Anh Tuan and Nguyen Xuan Thinh, as well as some guess
speakers. The topics encircled hot data networking and telecommunication issues.
The idea from this group forms the the Connek group of today.
- July 2000: The group met up with a few Class of 01 (K41), who were last year
college students by then, with the introduction from Nguyen Vu Thang. The group
decided to guide, share and transfer technology knowledge to these students.
- October 2000: The group had meetings on the idea to launch a group to
facilitate sharing experience and knowledge, and personal development. The name
CONNEK (CONverged NEtwork tECHnology) had been agreed upon. However, due to lack
of interest and activities, the official launch was put off.
- January 2001: After the key technology talks and presentations, the original
group stopped weekly meetings and unofficially dissolved. Tien tutored the group
of Class of 2001 students in their graduation theses and started similar
technology discussion series with them.
- August 2001: Tien with the assistance from the original group and K41 newly
graduates started tutoring and developing professional skills for a new intake
of Class of 02 candidates(K42). The group activities became more formal with
introduction of a curriculum based on “Computer Networking - A top-down approach
featuring Internet”.
- August 2002: Group activities extended to another intake of students, Class
of 03 (K43). Nguyen Xuan Long (K42) and Le Ngoc Hoang (K41) assumed tutoring
activities also based on “Computer Networking - A top-down approach featuring
Internet” under the guidance.
- February 2003: During group year-end party and technology trend update
session with the presence of the original group, K41, K42 and K43, the idea of
Connek was once again mentioned and agreed to implement.

approach featuring Internet”, the group brought in experts in others fields as
guest speakers in hot areas. Connek expanded its focus from telecommunications
and basic data networking into data security, web services and Artificial
Intelligence.
